Mobile Technology Lab Visits Children's National Medical Center

Last Date:

111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20010

OCTO's Connect.DC Mobile Technology Lab is paying a visit to Children’s National Medical Center this week, where Mayor Vincent C. Gray and officials from the Office of Unified Communications (OUC) will announce the availability of Smart911, a new OUC initiative. The Mobile Technology Lab will be open to the public and press immediately following the conference to demonstrate the initiative on the Lab's six laptop computers.

With Smart911, citizens are able to create a Safety Profile at that is automatically displayed to 9-1-1 during emergency calls. The profile can include home and work addresses associated with mobile phone numbers, specific medical conditions and disabilities, all family members, vehicle information and even pets.

OUC and OCTO have partnered in the use of the Mobile Technology Lab in targeted neighborhoods this summer to assist citizens in creating their Safety Profile.

For more information on the Smart911 initiative, contact the Office of Unified Communications. For information on the Mobile Technology Lab, contact Connect.DC.
